Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce an NOx contained in the exhaust gas from the main burner with some reducible combustion intermediary product produced by an auxiliary burner for performing low oxygin combustion.
CONSTITUTION: In addition to a coal burner 7, a reducible substance producing burner 8 is arranged, some fine powder coals are fed from the coal burner 7 onto the hearth 1 in the boiler. Volume of air for combustion to be fed from the air box 6 is either the same as that of a theoretical volume or such low one as not causing non-stable combustion. In the hearth 1 is generated a slight reducible atmosphere and a part of NOx is reduced to innoxious substance of N2. On the other hand, either a heavy oil or gas is fed from the reducible substance producing burner 8 with air of about 60W90% of its theoretical volume and combusted with it, resulting in producing a reducible substance such as acetnitrile, formaldehide etc., as combustion intermediary product. The product reduces NOx produced by the combustion of some fine coals. During this reduction, the remaining carbon not yet burnt is completely combustioned with the air of lack fed from the air inlet 9, then discharged out of the facility from the duct 2.
