Abstract

A combustion process in which a fuel from a line 103 is incompletely burnt in a combustion zone 101, then into the exhaust gas produced by the incomplete combustion is supplied through a line 106, a gas containing oxygen, e.g. part of the flue gas from a line 109, so that an oxygen concentration of about 0.3% or less with respect to the amount of said exhaust gas may be obtained, and then an amount of air necessary to cause complete burning of the unburned fuel content is supplied through a line 105. It has been found that with such a process the nitrogen oxides content of the exhaust gas is acceptably low. <IMAGE>
