Abstract
PURPOSE: To limit the maximum engine output only in the full load condition by restricting the opening of a secondary throttle valve when the speed is higher than a predetermined value, in a system wherein the secondary throttle valve of a multistage carburetor is opened and closed by a diaphragm device utilizing negative pressure.
CONSTITUTION: In a multistage carburetor 10 comprising a primary intake passage 12 having a primary throttle valve 20 and a secondary intake passage 14 having a secondary throttle valve 22, the open-close operation of the secondary throttle valve 22 is controlled by a diaphragm device 24 wherein the negative pressure of both venturies are introduced into a negative-pressure chamber 28 through a negative- pressure pipe 32, which is connected with a valve 44 for change-over to the atmosphere. The pipe 32 is further provided with a negative-pressure switch 42 which detects the negative pressure and feeds a signal to a computer 48 when the detected negative pressure is higher than a predetermined value. The computer 48 is fed also with the signal from a revolution sensor 50, and it release the valve 44 to the atmosphere when the engine output exceeds a predetermined value, thereby weakening the negative pressure to close the secondary throttle valve.
