Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent air-fuel ratio from moving to the lean side at the time when the feed of the secondary air is stopped, by a method wherein the control to the air- fuel ratio is stopped, too, at the time when the feed of the secondary air is stopped, in a control unit to which both air-fuel ratio controlling circuit to an intake system and the secondary air controlling circuit to the exhaust system are provided.
CONSTITUTION: An intake negative pressure, taken out of a gas filter 40 is introduced to each diaphragm chamber 38a and 50a of the secondary air directional control valve 38 and the negative pressure control valve 50, when the engine operating condition is in ordinary load, and the temperature of an engine is high and a temperature sensing valve 44 is in the closed condition. Accordingly, a valve 50c is moved to the right side, and the primary air-fuel ratio control by the control of an amount of air bleed is performed by the atmosphere introduced to a passage 10c, as well as a valve 38b is moved to the right side, and the secondary air is fed into an exhaust manifold 16, through a pipe 26. On the other hand, when the temperature of an engine is low, the atmosphere is introduced with a temperature sensing valve 44 fully opened, so that both valves 38 and 50 are closed, and the secondary air feeding and the primary air-fuel ratio control are stopped.
