Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent lowering of the output at the time of high-speed operation of an engine equipped with an exhaust-gas by-pass valve means for controlling the supercharging pressure of a supercharger, by correcting the opening of the exhaust- gas by-pass valve on the basis of the pressure at the inlet of a compressor of the supercharger at the time of high-speed operation of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In an operational range of an engine 1, where the opening of a throttle valve 22 is large, a supercharging pressure in the intake manifold, transmitted to a pressure chamber 18 of a pneumatic means 13, is increased as the revolutional speed of engine 1 is increased. When the supercharging pressure becomes higher than a predetermined level, a diaphragm 15 is moved to the left against the force of a spring 25, so that a by-pass valve 11 is opened by a rod 14. Simultaneously with the above, a solenoid valve 21 shifts its position in response to a control signal 24 from a control means 23 which processes input signals relating to the revolutional speed of engine 1, opening of throttle valve 22, etc., so that the intake vacuum is transmitted to a pressure chamber 20 at the time of high-speed operation of the engine 1. Therefore, the by-pass valve 11 is controlled to decrease its opening appropriately.
