Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely prevent afterburning in an engine equipped with a secondary air introducing device having a differential pressure response type control valve, by keeping the control valve open for a relatively long time in the deceleration of the engine at a low temperature to supply a comparatively large quantity of secondary air.
CONSTITUTION: A secondary air introducing device has a secondary air introducing passage 6 to supply secondary air to an intake passage 1 by-passing a throttle valve 3 and a chock valve 4. A differential pressure response type control valve 7 is installed in the passage 6. A chamber 11 defined by the diaphragm 8 of the control valve 7 is connected through a negative pressure passage 15 to a negative pressure outlet port 14 slightly upstream to the closed position of the throttle valve 3 in the intake passage 1. Another chamber 10 is connected through another negative pressure passage 13 to another negative pressure outlet port 12 slightly downstream to the throttle valve 3 in the intake passage 1. A valve 16, which is opened when a water temperature sensor 17 which closes when it detects that the temperature of an engine is low, for example, the temperature of cooling water is not higher than 75°C, is provided in the negative pressure passage 13. A vehicle speed sensor 20 is coupled in parallel with the water temperature sensor 17.
