Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance image quality of a red and black copied image in 2-color copying method using a specified laminate type photoreceptor, by setting to a specified value an illumination quantity of the red light to be used in primary charging.
CONSTITUTION: First photoconductive layer 11, such as Se or Se alloy, interlayer 12, and second photoconductive layer 13 consisting of a eutectic complex of a thiapyrylium salt and a polycarbonate resin are laminated on conductive substrate 10 to form photoreceptor 1, which is subjected to positive primary charging together with uniform exposure to a red light, followed by negative secondary charging lower in potential than the primary charging and subsequent exposure to a light image of a red and black 2-color original. The surface potential of photoreceptor 1 becomes zero, positive, and negative in the areas corresponding to each of the white ground, the red image, and the black image, and photoreceptor 1 is developed with positively charged black toner TBL and negatively charged red toner TR. In said 2-color copying method, a light of its wavelength ≥560nm is used as said red light used for illumination in the primary charging, and this illumination is carried out in 150W 650μWsec/cm2 range illumination intensity.
