Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the versatility of a two-color copying apparatus by so forming the apparatus that it may be used for both two-color copying and monochromatic copying of two-color originals by using a photoreceptor for two-color copying.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor 1 comprises laminating conductive layers 11, 12 on a conductive substrate 10, wherein only the conductive layer 12 is made conductive by the irradiation of A-color light and only the conductive layer 11 is made conductive by the B-color light differing from the A-color light. First, the photoreceptor 1 receives positive charging and is simultaneously irradiated uniformly with red-color light. Thereby, only the conductive layer 11 is charged. Thence, the exposure by the light image of a two-color original is made, but if the portions corresponding to the white ground portions irradiated by white-color light are left, the photoconductive layer 11 does not conduct; therefore, the electrostatic latent image of unipolarity corresponding to the red and black two-color image is formed. This electrostatic latent image is of positive polarity; therefore, if it is visualized by the toner of negative charge, that is, the red-color toner TR used at the time of two- color copying process, the monochromatic copy image of red color is obtained on the photoreceptor 1.
