Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain distinct two-color images with a magnetic brush method by making the mean charge amount of one toner layer than that of the other at the time of forming positive and negative electrostatic latent images according to the original images and developing these with two kinds of colored toners of mutually different polarities.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a photoconductive layer 3 having sensitiviey to white light such as of Se, etc. and a photoconductive layer 4 (mixture of pyrylium base compounds and triphenyl methane base compounds, etc.) having sensitivity only to red light thereon are provided on an Al drum 2. While the light of a light source 14 is being radiated through a red filter 15 to this laminated photoreceptor 1, the layer 4 is positively charged with a primary charger 5, thence it is dark-charged to negative with a secondary charger 6, following to which the latent images of positive, zero and negative respectively are formed from the original images of red, white and black through image exposure 7. Next, red and black two-color development is performed by the negative red color toner of a larger mean charge amount Q/M value per unit weight with a developing device 8 and the positive black color toner of a smaller Q/M value with a developing device 9. A copy is then obtainable by using a charger 10, transfer charger 11 and fixing device 13.
