PURPOSE:To prevent the mixing of colors caused by the attachment of the 2nd tonor to a picture colored by the 1st tonor when an electrostatic latent image on a recording element is reversely developed with tonors having different colors in the 1st and 2nd developing vessels by increasing the quantity of charging of the 2nd tonor more than that of the 1st tonor. CONSTITUTION:After charging, for example, with positive electricity and irradiating the 1st ray of light 3, the 1st electrostatic latent image is formed on a recording element 1 having a light conductive element 1b on its base plate 1a to develope the latent image reversely by using positively charged black tonor 5 whose charging quantity is about 10muc/g. Then the 2nd ray of light is irradiated to form an electrostatic latent image, which is developed reversely, for example, by the positively charged red tonor 8 whose charging quantity is 15-30muc/g in the 2nd developing vessel 7. The 2nd tonor 8 is not adhered to the portion colored by the 1st tonor 5 because of large repulsion.
