PURPOSE:To copy an optical part of a black image in a monochromatic original, to a color being different from other part, by constituting so that electrostatic latent images charged in the opposite polarity to each other are made visible by 2 kinds of toners colored in each different color. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 12 is converted to an electric conductor by uniformly irradiating a red light beam LR to a photosensitive body 1, and an electric double layer is formed through a photoconductive layer 11. Subsequently, charging of the opposite polarity is executed in a dark place, the layers 11, 12 are charged in reverse to each other, and after that, when a part of the photosensitive body 1 is irradiated uniformly by the red color beam LR, only the layer 12 of the irradiated part is converted to an electric conductor, the surface potential of the photosensitive body 1 is inverted to the positive polarity. Also, the part of the photosensitive body 1 corresponding to the white ground part is irradiated by a white light beam LW, and its surface potential is made to zero. Subsequently, the surface potential distribution of negative polarity of the photosensitive body 1 is made visible by a black toner Tn which has been charged positive, and the surface potential distribution of positive polarity is made visible by a red toner Tr which has been charged negative, by which a 2-color visible image is obtained on the photosensitive body 1.
