Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a 2-color copy, by imagewise exposing a photoreceptor directly or interposing a specified light-nontransmitting filter, forming a electrostatic latent image having reverse polarity potential distribution on a photoreceptor surface, and selectively using 2 kinds of toners charged to reverse polarities for development. CONSTITUTION:When, for example, red light LR irradiates a photoreceptor 1 at the same time as a charger 2 corona charges it negatively, a photoconductive layer 1C is made conductive, so a photoconductive layer 1B is charged. Then, a charger 3 corona charges it positively in the dark, and the photoconductive layers 1B, 1C are charged opposite to each other by charging less than the preceding negative charging. The photoreceptor 1 is exposed to the optical image of a red and black 2-color original 01 or a blue and black 2-color original, and developed with a negatively charged black toner TN and a positively charged red toner TR, resulting in forming a high-quality 2-color visible image. This image is again charged to negative polarity, transferred to a sheet of plain paper, and then, heat fixed to form a superior 2-color copy.
