Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp 2-color image by a simple process using a photoreceptor having a specified amorphous silicon photoconductor layer. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous silicon photoconductor layer containing 1X10<-5>- 5X10<-2> atomic % oxygen, 10-40 atomic % hydrogen, and 1,500-2,000ppm element of a group IIIb of the periodic table is formed on a conductive substrate to form a photoreceptor 41, this is uniformly charged with a corona charger 45, imagewise exposed with an imaging optical system 43 through using the white light of an exposure lamp 56 to form a primary electrostatic latent image. Then, the part except the primary image is reversely charged with a corona charger 46, and image- wise exposed with an imaging optical system 44 through using a chromic color light emitted from an exposure lamp 57 through a color filter 55 to form a secondary electrostatic latent image. These two latent images are developed with developing devices 47, 48 containing toners different from each other in polarity and color, the secondary image toner is reversed in polarity with a corona charger 49, and the images are transferred to a transfer paper 51 with a transfer charger 50.
