Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a photoreceptor capable of 2-color printing, by providing the first photoconductive layer chargeable to both polarities, having photoconductivity sensitive to the first color light, and transmitting the second color light, and the second photoconductive layer having photoconductivity sensitive to the second color light.
CONSTITUTION: The second photoconductive layer 2 is formed on conductive substrate 1, using Se or the like having high sensitivity to the second color light L2 of red color lightWinfrared light (wavelength about 6nm or longer). The first photoconductive layer 3 is formed on layer 2 to form photoreceptor 6. Layer 3 is made of Se containing a small amount of impurities, such as halogen and oxygen, and an extremely small amount of Te, As, Sb, or the like, having chargeability to both polarities, and high sensitivity to light L1 shorter in wavelength than light L2 (about 580W300nm), and transmitting light L2. Photoreceptor 6 is positively charged, exposed to light L1 to form electrostatic latent image 7, developed with negatively charged toner 9, and a positive image is transferred on receording medium 10 by charge 11 for transferring. Then, photoreceptor 6 is negatively charged, exposed to light L2, latent image 8 is developed with toner 9 to form a reversal negative image, and this is transferred to medium 10 by charge 11, thus permitting a 2-mode image to be obtained.
