Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible two or three color copying through one image exposure by using a photoreceptor laminated with three kinds of photoconductive layers of different photosensitive wavelengths.
CONSTITUTION: If a photoreceptor 1 laminated with three kinds of photoconductive layers 3W5 of different photosensitive wavelengths formed by amorphous selenium, eutectic complex of thiapyrilium salt and polycarbonate and β type copper phthalocyanine is subjected to red color irradiation and primary charging, the layers 3, 5 are made conductive, and positive and negative charges appear on the top and under of the layer 4 respectively. When it is next subjected to secondary charging in a dark place, the layers 3W5 are of high resistance in the dark; therefore the surface of the layer 5 and the boundary of the layer 3 and the conductive substrate 2 charge themselves to negative polarity. When image exposure is performed in this state, the surface potential of the layer 5 does not change with respect to the black image portion and the surface potential inverts to negative polarity only for the red image portion of the original, thus two color images of red and black are formed by the positive and negative charged red and black toners through one exposure. In a similar manner, the three color images of red, black and blue may be formed through one exposure without any image deviation.
