Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a system by providing processors which control magnetic disk devices, and by accessing a central processor by connecting a control register to each processor via a switch. CONSTITUTION:A central processor CPU10 is connected to magnetic disk devices 16-1-16-n via a magnetic disk controller 24, which consists of two processors 26 and 28 and a processor change-over switch 38. The processor 26 discriminates the presence of an interruption to the CPU10 and actuation from the CPU10 at any time and, when actuated, checks whether a front end 33 is used by its own system; when another system is using it, a channel busy signal is sent to the CPU10 and when not, the switch 38 is placed at the side of its own system to make contents of a group of control registers of the front end 33 stand by in a storage area 34b for other systems. Then, the contents standing by in an area 34a for its own system are set in a group of control registers and processing is performed corresponding to a command from the CPU10.
