Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the control lag by reducing a slip frequency of VVVFF inverter to zero and flowing an enough low exciting current of a motor, leaving main circuit line breakers closed.
CONSTITUTION: An input from a pantograph 1 is fed to a three-phase induction motor 8 for the electric car drive through the main circuit line breakers 2, 3 and the VVVFF inverter 7. At the notch-OFF of the electric car, the slip frequency of the inverter 7 is reduced to zero to squeeze the output voltage thereof, leaving the line breakers 2 and 3 closed, and the motor 8 is commutated with the exciting current enough lower than a rated exciting current. Thus, at the notch-OFF, the inverter 7 is commutated with the line breakers 3, 4 reamining closed, so that a filter capacitor 6 is not charged nor discharged. Accordingly, the control lag caused by the charging and discharging can be prevented.
