Abstract

PURPOSE: To omit the DC power source part and then miniaturize the unit, by cancelling the blocking state of the gate signal in order to apply the gate signal to all thyristors when the phase coincidence is secured and then giving the start so as to apply the gate signal only to half of the thyristors for commutation.
CONSTITUTION: Before starting, the charging is given to DC capacitor 7 with the AC current applied to the AC terminal of inverter 8 in the blocking state of the gate signals of all thyristors. Phase control circuit 13 gives the phase control to the gate signal in order to generate the output voltage of the same phase as the voltage of the AC group. On the other hand, phase coincidence detecting circuit 32 detects the phase difference between the voltage phase of the AC group and the gate signal. Then the blocking state of the gate signal is cancelled so as to apply the gate signal to all thyristors when the phase coincidence is secured, and then the start is given in order to apply the gate signal only to half of the thyristors for commutation. In this way, the DC power source part can be omitted to realize the miniaturization of the unit.
