Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform safe positive and negative switching, by a method wherein a positive thyristor bridge is turned off and a negative thyristor bridge is also turned on by a phase going the voltage of the turned on element to negative at the final stage for the other phase voltage. CONSTITUTION:An AC power source 1 is applied to thyristor bridges 3A, 3B through a transformer 2 and the power is supplied to a load 4. And the signal in an output current detection circuit 6 consisting of a current detector 7 and a current polarity detector 8 is fed into a firing control circuit 9 together with a phase detection circuit 12, a phase control signal 10, and a switching signal 11 to control the commutation phase of the bridges 3A, 3B and after turning off the positive bridge 3A, a firing pulse is fed into the negative bridge 3B by the phase going the voltage of the turned on element to negative at a final stage for the other phase voltage. Therefore, safe and sure positive and negative switching can be performed with a slight zero current period without causing power source short-circuit loop.
