Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the fall in the power-factor of a motor and stably and accurately control its speed, by increasing the output frequency of a frequency converter at the time of the fall in power voltage to reduce the terminal voltage of the motor.
CONSTITUTION: A comparison amplifier 17 compares a power voltage detected by a voltage detecting circuit 15 with a voltage prescribed by a voltage setting unit 6. When the power voltage falls below the prescribed voltage, the comparison amplifier 17 generates an DC voltage. While the output of the amplifier 17 is applied to a frequency control circuit 11, the output frequency of a cyclo converter 2 is increased, namely, the slip of a squirrel-cage induction motor 3 is increased when the power voltage falls. When the slip is increased, the terminal voltage of the motor decreases. As a result, the power-factor of the motor does not fall and the commutation failure of thyristors of the converter 2 is prevented. Therefore, the revolution speed of the motor is stably and accurately controlled.
