Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the mounting area and volume of and to improve the reliability and the resolution of a photoelectric converter by forming both a photoconverting unit and its driving circuit on the same substrate. CONSTITUTION:A photoconverting unit 101 is formed on a crystalline Si substrate 104 having a silicon structure at least on a surface region. Respective photoconverting elements S1-1, ...S54-31 forming the unit 101 are connected to a driving circuit 102 formed by an ordinary semiconductor process on a substrate 104. A driving circuit unit 102 formed in blocks of predetermined number of driving elements 105, each of which is connected to each of block driving signal input lines b1-b54. Each element 105 is connected to a matrix wiring unit 103, which integrates the electric wires from the respective elements 105 and are connected to output signal lines D0-D31. The unit 101 is composed of a photoconductive layer, two ohmic contact layers for interleaving the photoconductive layer and electrodes formed on the contact layers. These layes are formed of amorphous material containing Si as a base.
