Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an extremely thin type and highly capable subject device, by introducing dispersing lights of a read-out information surface coming from a reflection surface, which forms a sharp angle toward the surface of read-out information, into a light-gathering glass fiber and photoelectrically converting the lights by an element attached to the other end as an integrated unit.
CONSTITUTION: A light-gathering glass fiber functions as a lens with such a characteristic that the glass takes the maximum reflection at the center axis and the reflection tapers off toward its circumference. When a light source 17 is radiated in the neighborhood of A on a script 16, the light enters a glass plate vertically, reflects 11 and enters the aforementioned lens 8. The light is radiated onto the glass plate 10, reflected 12 and image-formed on a photoelectric conversion element 13. By operating a seanning circuit 15 in this condition, the element is switched and a light information of an original image is converted to an electrical signal for read- out. In this mechanism, an extremely thin, long-sized and highly capable photoelectric conversion element can be obtained, and adjustment of a lens system can be simplified.
