Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the developing method of the toner images free from edge effect by providing an electrode making contact with insulation type magnetic toner near the sleeve of surface insulation characteristic and applying the bias voltage containing earth level thereby controlling the surface potential of the sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: High resistance magnetic toner 4 is adsorbed on the surface of an insulation type sleeve 5 built in with a magnetic roll 6, whereby a magnetic brush is formed. It is so constituted that the surface of a recording medium 1 is slided by this brush, by which the electrostatic latent images are developed. While the electrode 8 which is provided in proximity to an insulation-type sleeve 5 and is applied with the bias voltage 9 containing earth level is being held contacted to the abovementioned magnetic brush, the insulation type sleeve 5 is rotated and the surface potential of the insulation type sleeve 5 is controlled by the magnetic roll 6 by way of the magnetic toner 4 rotating in the direction opposite from the sleeve 5. Hence, the toner images 7 free from edge effect with the insulation type toner 4 may be obtained by using the sleeve 5 whose surface is of insulation characteristic.
