Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the developing method for the toner images free from edge effect by providing an electrode making contact with insulation type toner near the conductive sleeve of a non-grounded state and applying bias voltage to this electrode thereby controlling the surface potential of the sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: This is the method of developing the electrostatic latent images 2 formed on the surface of a recording medium 1 by the magnetic toner 4 of resistivity 109Ωcm or more held by the magnetic force of a magnetic roll 6 on a conductive sleeve 5 in a non-grounded state. With this method, an electrode 8 making contact with the magnetic toner 4 rotating in the counterclockwise direction is provided near the sleeve 5 rotating in the clockwise direction. It is so constituted that the bias voltage 9 containing earth level is applied to the electrode 8 to control the surface potential of the sleeve 5 by way of the magnetic toner 4. Such constitution enables the developing method capable of providing the toner images 7 free from edge effect to be provided.
