Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce fringing field and obtain superior images by putting the conductive layer of a photoreceptor in a floating state at the developing with respect to the recording method of forming electrostatic latent images on a latent image carrier such as photoreceptor and visualizing these.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor 10 being a latent image carrier is formed to the laminate structure of a conductive substrate 10a, insulation layer 10b, conductive layer 10c and photosensitive layer 10d. The conductive layer 10c is put in a floating state at the time of developing or the like and is put in a grounded state at the time of charging, exposing, etc. in order to achieve these functions. Hence, at the developing, the electrostatic capacity of the insulation layer 10b existing from the photosensitive layer 10d up to the conductive substrate 10a causes the electric lines of force to go toward the grounded conductive developing sleeve 11 side and this results in the decreased fringing field. Thus, even when high-resistance toner is used with the one-component type magnetic toner in particular, the sharp images free from any photographic fog may be obtained.
