Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the development having no edge effect by charging the high-resistance developer by a charging electrode just before it is sent to developing surface and developing electrostatic latent images.
CONSTITUTION: Developer 1 is charged by a charging electrode 3 just before it is sent to a drum 6 by a magnetic roll 2. Thence, electrostatic latent images 7 are rubbed by the charged developer 1, whereby they are developed. The charges of the developer 1 give charges mainly to carriers so that the potential of the entire part of the developer 1 is increased. To perform reversal development, the developer 1 is charged to the same potential as the charging potential of the drum 6 by the electrode 3, an electric field acts between the developer 1 and the photosenstive surface of the drum 6 in the portions where the charges of the drum 6 have been dropped out. As a result of this, the potential of the entire part of the developer 1 has increased and therefore, even if the high-resistance developer is used, the development having no edge effect may be accomplished.
