Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce feeding amount and improve yield by heating the circumference of the feeder part or the like with an induction heater.
CONSTITUTION: In ingot making or casting, an induction heater is provided around a feeder part or the feeder part and upper part of the mold. For example, in the case of pouring feeder into a feeder frame 3 and making ingot after pouring molten steel into the mold 2 placed on a molding board 1, an outside metal frame having a feeder shape is provided. A wooden pattern is disposed in this metal frame and a coil is disposed in the cavity formed by both. After casting sand is packed therein, carbonic acid gas is blown to set the sand, thence the core is removed and an induction heater 4 is mounted. Current is supplied to this to retain the temprature around the feeder part through induction heating, wherein the heating device is segmented to a number of sections and current is supplied a longer time at the upper part or by doing other in addition to even heating, the feeder part of the head part of the steel ingot is kept in a molten state as long as possible. Thereby, sufficient feeding effect may be provided even if feeding amount is less.
