Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the molding suited for magnetic head core material without grinding by pouring molten metal of Fe/Al/Si base alloy into the heat-resistant mold having a casting chamber of the specified shape.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 4 of Fe/Al/Si base alloy prepared by a vacuum melting method or the like is transferred into a vessel 2 which is then retained of heat by a heating coil 3 and is conveyed to the ingot making site. Molten steel is poured through the nozzle 1 of the vessel bottom into the heat-resistant mold in which, e.g., a boat type casting chamber is formed by an outer die 5 and inner die 6. Since this method causes the molding 7 of a desired shape to be directly formed, the magnetic head core material of a high yield is obtained.
