Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the reaction caused by the contact of copper alloy with gypsum, and to manufacture excellent castings made of copper alloy, by melt-spraying metal to the casting surface of a gypsum casting mold to form thin metallic layer, then by assembling said casting mold, and by pouring copper alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A metal is melt-sprayed to the casting surfaces 1a, 2a of top and bottom parts 1, 2 made of gypsum to form thin metallic layer 3 on the surfaces 1a, 2a. Said layer 3 is e.g. about 0.2W1mm in thickness. After the formation of the layer 3, the top and bottom parts 1, 2 are assembled, then molten copper alloy is poured into the casting mold 1, 2. Hence, the copper alloy 4 poured into the casting mold 1, 2 is melt-sticked to the layer 3 thereby manufacturing castings made of copper alloy having the layer 3 as the external surface. The casting surface of the castings has very high denseness which corresponds to that of the surfaces 1a, 2a of the gypsum casting mold.
