Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent surely the adherance of zinc to the surface not to be plated of a steel sheet, by maintaining a sink roll at a temp. not lower than the m.p. of zinc in leading continuously the steel sheet which turns around the sink roll half immersed into the molten zinc. CONSTITUTION:A sink roll 11 is half immersed into a molten zinc lating bath 12 in uch a manner that the center of the roll 11 is at a height H from the surface of the bath. A steel sheet B is pressed to the roll 11 and is led continuously. The roll is maintained at a temp. not lower than the m.p. of zinc, thereby preventing the plating fluid 12 from intruding to the gap 14 formed between the sheet 13 and the roll 11 so as to prevent adherance of the molten zinc to the surface of the roll 11. The roll is maintained at a temp. not lower than 415.5lC, pref., 450-550 deg.C. The roll 11 is heated from upside by a flame using a gas burner in order to be maintained at the temp. described above.
