Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of molten metal and to produce a metal strip at excellent yield by heating the specific part of a water cooled roll at the time of forming solidified shell of molten metal on surface by rotation of a water cooled roll submerging a part thereof into the molten metal to continuously produce a strip. CONSTITUTION:The two water cooled rolls 1, 1 made of copper alloy, etc., are mutually rotated toward reverse direction in the molten metal 2 in a vessel 3 and the solidified shells 6 of the molten metal 2 are formed on the roll surfaces and continuously drawn as one piece of the strip 7 by the welding rolls 9, 9 at upper part. In this case, as the molten metal is stuck and solidified on the inclined part 1' at both end parts of the rolls 1, 1 or on the surface of heat insulating refractory 10 at end part by supplying combustible material from a nozzle 13 and burning and generating the gas 12, the molten metal 2 is prevented from contacting with the inclined part 1' and the refractory material part 10. The solidified shell of the molten metal is formed only on the surface of the water cooled rolls 1 and the metal strip 7 is continuously produced at good yield of the raw material.
