Abstract
PURPOSE:To readily produce one-side plated steel hoops by coating hydrocarbon compound on one side then passing the cold rolled steel hoop in a molten metal plating bath after reduction annealing of the steel hoop. CONSTITUTION:A cold rolled steel hoop 1 is annealed in a continuous annealing furnace 2 consisting of a non-oxidating heating zone, reducing zone and cooling zone. It is direction-changed downward by a turn-down roll 3 and is coated with polyolefin compound such as polyethylene, polypropylene or other on the bottom surface of the steel hoop 1 by a coating roll 9 in a snout. Next, this steel hoop 1 is passed through the inside of a hot dipping bath 6 such as of molten Zn. The polyolefin compound decomposes at the temperature of the molten Zn bath and the gas layer of the production of thermal decomposition perfectly prevents the deposition of the molten Zn on the steel hoop. In this way, the steel hoop having been molten- Zn-plated only on one side is readily produced.
