Abstract

PURPOSE: To suck an evaporated fuel in a fuel tank for an engine for a predetermined period of time during the engine is stopped by coupling a suction pump pivoted by a kinetic energy storing means with a device in which the evaporated fuel in the tank is absorbed into an absorbent.
CONSTITUTION: In a space above a fuel tank 10, a canister 16 used when an engine is in operation is provided, and a canister 30 used when the engine is stopped is also arranged. The canister 30 is communicated with a fuel vapor injection port 30a having a solenoid valve 34, and a breathing port 30b having a solenoid valve 38 comprising a three valve, whose another passage being communicated with a suction pump 40. The pump 40, which is interlocked with an output shaft 56 through gears 42 and 44, a spiral spring 48, and gears 50 and 52, is pivoted by an energy stored in the spring 48. When the engine is stopped, the valve 34 is opened, and the valve 38 is allowed to communicate with the pump 40, so that an evaporated fuel in the tank is sucked into the canister 30.
