Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate need for a conventional plunger with a large moment of inertia to simplify the whole structure by providing a rotary valve with a fuel escape passage in the pipe system of a fuel injection device so that fuel is supplied through the valve.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel in a fuel tank 12 is conducted to a high pressure pump 2 which is linked with a cam of a cam shaft 16 through a pump 8 and a filter 6. A rotary valve device 22 is equipped with a rotary valve 26 inside which is rotated being linked with an engine. Also, projections to open or close a conduit 28 which is connected with a high pressure pump 2 are provided in the valve 26 to conduct fuel into a chamber 36 at the appropriate time. The chamber 36, furthermore, is connected with a pipe 52 which is connected to an injection nozzle which is not indicated in the figure through a chamber 60, and at the center of the valve 26, a fuel escape passage 42 which can possibly be connected with the chamber 36 is provided so that fuel in the valve 26 can be returned to the tank 12 from the passage 42 and a chamber 40 through a pipe 43 when the pipe 28 is closed.
