Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the fuel efficiency and exhaust gas properties of a rotary engine, by injecting an intake supplied under pressure from a pump through a rotary valve, into the working chamber of the engine to scavenge residual gas and cause turbulence in a mixture intake. CONSTITUTION:A rotary valve 13 starts opening around the time of change from the process of exhaust from the working chamber 8 of a rotary engine to that of intake to the chamber and closes at the end of the process of intake. When the communication passage 14 of the rotary valve 13 is connected to an injection port 17, an intake supplied under pressure from a pump 10 is injected into the working chamber 8 for a prescribed period to scavenge residual gas out of the chamber through an exhaust port 17 and cause intense turbulence in a mixture intake in the chamber.
