Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an improved starting manner of the internal combustion engine which uses kerosene or light oil having little amount of components of low boiling point as a main fuel by providing a starting pump which discharges starting fuel having a large amount of components of low boiling point into an intake air at the start of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: At the start of the internal combustion engine, first a knob 55 of a diaphragm pump 50 as the starting fuel pump is pulled to draw in the starting fuel in a tank 58 into an oil chamber 51 through a check valve 56. Next, the knob 55 is released so as to return the diaphragm 53 to the oil chamber side by the force of the spring 54, so that the fuel in the oil chamber 51 goes through a passage 39, a plunger chamber 37 and a starting intake passage 36 into a main intake passage 20. After this starting operation, a crank is connected. Then the main fuel is drawn in from the passage 38 by the intake air flowing across the plunger chamber 37 and discharged into the main intake passage 20. At the same time, the starting fuel is introduced into the engine body, thereby improving a smooth start of the engine.
