Abstract
PURPOSE: To avoid a current solenoid valve for a compact carburetor by connecting a selector valve to a diaphragm which works on the valve under intake negative pressure to open the interior vent and shut off the exterior vent.
CONSTITUTION: In the rest of an engine, a selector valve 9 is loaded with a spring 16 to shut off air from a vent 5 to interior vent 6 and connect the vent 5 to an exterior vent 8. Fuel vapor in a float chamber 4 is carried from the vent 5 via the exterior vent 8 and a pipe 17 into a charcoal canister 7 where the vapor is stuck to activated charcoal. Once the engine stands up, a negative pressure is formed in a mixing chamber 11 and transmitted through a pipe 18 to a diaphragm 14 in a negative pressure room 15. The selector valve 9 is pushed against the spring 16 to choke the exterior vent 8 and open the interior vent 6 so that fuel vapor is sucked up from the vent 5 into an engine via the interior vent 6, venturi 10 and chamber 11.
