Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent air pollution while suppressing the useless consumption of fuel, by storing fuel evaporated from a fuel tank and a fuel reservoir of float chamber, etc. of a carbureter in case of the suspension of an internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine is stopped, a magnet valve 28 of a control valve mechanism 20 is under a non-conduction condition, and an opening portion 26 with a small diameter is opened while an opening portion 25 with a large diameter is closed because intake negative pressure does not act on a check valve 27. Thus, the coil spring side of a pressure receiver 16 is maintained in atmospheric pressure, and a valve 17 is pressure contacted with an opening portion 11a by means of a spring 15. Consequently, fuel evaporated from the inside of a floating chamber 5 is adsorbed and stored to adsorbents in a storage instrument 7 through an introducing passage 8, a passage 11 and an introducing passage 9. When the engine is started, the magnet valve 28 is operated to close the opening portion 26 by means of valve body 37, the check valve 27 is opened by intake negative pressure, and intake negative pressure acts on the pressure receiver 16 to close an opening portion 11b by means of the valve body 17, thus introducing fuel evaporated to the engine from a passage 13.
