Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent dusts, mud, water, etc. from entering into a purge air conduit of an activated-charcoal-type evaporative emission discharge preventer, by supplying pressure air into the purge air conduit when an engine is moving. CONSTITUTION:When the engine is stopped, an air pump 11 is not driven and there is no pressure air in a relief conduit 20. At that time, the purge air inlet port 5 of a charcoal canister 1 is maintained at the atmospheric pressure, evaporated fuel from a fuel tank or the like is introduced into the canister 1 through an inlet port 3 and adsorbed on activated charcoal 2. When the engine is moving, the air pump 11 is driven and there is pressure air in the relief conduit 20. At that time, the pressure air is conducted from a conduit 23 to a part 24 of another conduit 6. A part of the pressure air is introduced into the canister 1 to purge the evaporated fuel from the activated charcoal 2 and the other part of the pressure air is conducted to the atmospheric end of the conduit 6 to blow off ducts or the like from said end.
