Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out the adsorption of a fuel vapor or the purging of the adsorbed fuel vapor by an air effectively and prevent the clogging of a filter by vibration by forming an active carbon to a monolith form.
CONSTITUTION: A canister 1 comprises a rectangle shaped container 2 enclosed by a top plate 2a, a bottom plate 2b and a peripheral wall 2c, 2d and an active carbon of a rectangle shaped monolith structure contained therein. When the pressure within a full tank is reached to, for example, above 0.015kg/cm2 to open a check valve 9, a fuel gas is sent into canister, through a duct 7 and an empty chamber 5 and adsorbed to a monolith active carbon 3. When the negative pressure of an intake manifold in raised above the predetermined pressure to open a check valve 12, the fuel vapor adsorbed to the active carbon 3 is released from the active carbon 3 by the air sucked from an air port 13 and sucked into an intake manifold along with the air.
