Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely remove the deposits in the nozzle by periodically thrusting a nozzle stopper into the nozzle mounting port to detect the change in the molten steel level in the mold and energizing the high-frequency heating source encircling the nozzle when there is no change. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle stopper 5 for adjusting tapping amount of molten steel is periodically thrusted into a nozzle mounting port 7 by means of a hydraulic actuator 6 to measure the molten steel level in the mold 4 from the transmitted radiation dose radiated from a radiation source 9. The signal generated from a probe 10 is converted to a level signal (b) by a converter 11, after which it is input together with the stopper stroke signal (a) into a nozzle closing decision unit 12. When the level change rate does not exceed the set value, the decision signal of nozzle clogging is generated to start a high-frequency heating source 22, thereby energizing a heating coil 23. Thereby, the deposits in the nozzle 3 may be melted and peeled.
