Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the maximum inoculation effect to be obtained economically by continuously feeding fine-granular form inoculants to either of the molten metal, sprue part or ladle tapping hole part during pouring of molten iron or steel into the mold.
CONSTITUTION: In the method of inoculating inoculants to molten cast iron 6, fine granular inoculants 1 are continuously supplied from a hopper 2 through a nozzle 3 into the molten metal 6 at the melting into a mold 8 or either of a sprue part 7 or the sprue part 5 of a molten metal ladle 4, due to which the solidification of the molten metal begins in a slight time right after the inoculation and therefore the maximum inoculation effect is obtained. Unlike conventional methods, the ineffectiveness of the inoculants and the troubles in quality occuring in the variations of inoculation effects may be eliminated, the control of the feed amount of the inoculatns 1 is easy and the inoculation effect is considerably improved with the slight inoculants.
