Abstract

PURPOSE: To hold a cast molten metal in a mold at a prescribed liquid level without time lag by detecting the velocity of a flow of the molten metal in a nozzle and then by driving an outflow controller on the basis of a deviation from a set flow velocity value.
CONSTITUTION: If the liquid level of molten metal 12 in mold 15 lowers below a set liquid level, a set flow velocity value by function converter 19 increases, and consequently slide valve 13 is increased in opening amount by controller 34 and hydraulic unit 35. Therefore, the velocity of the flow of molten metal in nozzle 14, namely, the amount of molten metal 12 injected into mold 15 increases, so that the liquid level is controlled to the set liquid level. On the other hand, if the liquid level of molten metal 12 in mold 15 rises above the set level, the set flow velocity value by function converter 19 decreases and the opening amount of slide valve 13 by controller 34 and hydraulic unit 35 is decreased to hold the molten metal at the set liquid level.
