Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold an electromagnetic agitation state constant in the electromagnetic agitation by comparing the measured values of the electromagnetic force, casting temp., casting speed, cooling water flow rate, cooling water temp. and ingot surface temp. with set values and controlling the electromagnetic force, the casting speed and the cooling water flow rate. CONSTITUTION:A thermometer 11 for a molten metal M within a tundish 1, a cooling water outlet side thermometer 12 in a cooling water discharge pipe 6, an ingot surface thermometer 13 right under a shower 7, an electromagnetic force meter 14 to an electromagnetic coil 8 and a casting speedometer 15 in the lowermost part are respectively provided. The values measured with these instruments are introduced into an arithmetic controller 16, which detects the deviations from the respective set values. According to the contents of these deviations, control commands are emitted from the controller 16 to a water flow controller 17 for a cooling water supply pipe 5, a water low controller 18 for the shower 7, a casting speed controller 19, and an electromagnetic force controller 20. Thereby, the casting conditions for electromagnetic agitation are made constant at all times and the products of uniform quality are produced.
