Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the casting slab free from slag inclusion by continuously detecting the residual molten steel amount in the ladle by the specified method and giving an alarm when the residual molten steel amount becomes the specified value thereby stopping the molten steel effluence at the time of pouring the molten steel into a mold or the like from the ladle.
CONSTITUTION: In pouring molten steel, the weight of a ladle 2 containing molten steel is continuously measured and the total of the weight of only the ladle 3 and the slag amount in the molten steel (obtained from the slag content in the molten steel or by ordinary estimation methods) having beforehand been measured is substracted from the foregoing measured value, whereby the molten steel amount remained in the ladle 2 is continuously detected. Namely, the weight change along with the effluence of the molten steel is sent to a load comparator 5. The circuit 5 detects the time when the molten steel residual amount corresponding to the molten steel height at which slag inclusion begins to take place owing to the suction phenomenon occuring at the end period of the effluence and automatically closes the effluent nozzle 4 etc. of the ladle 2 to the tundish etc.
