Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the quality of a cast product by stabilizing the feeder head effect by automatically correcting the amount of molten metal feed when the detection value obtained by detecting a biscuit thickness by measuring a shot stroke in every casting shot is judged to be outside of a set range by being compared with a set value.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal supplied into a shot sleeve from a molten metal feeder is spouted and on every completion of a shot, shot stroke S is measured at step 103 to calculate the thickness of a biscuit at step 104. Next, the arithmetic value is compred with the set value of the viscuit thickness at step 105 and when the arithmetic value is outside the set range, it is discriminated as NG. This NG signal is transferred to step 106 and if the NG signal is generated continuously as many times as set, step 107 calculates the mean value, which is compared with the set value at step 108, so that when it is not in the allowable range, a molten-metal feed amount correction signal will be sent to step 109. At step 109, the correction of the molten metal feed is made and the control returns to step 101 again to feed the molten metal.
