Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform stable casting and obtain an ingot of superior quality by controlling casting speeds and water injection ratios in accordance the value of the ingot holding gap of ingot guide members measured by a detector provided to a dummy bar, in casting.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel is teemed from a ladle 1 into a mold 3 through a tundish 2, and at the same instant when a dummy bar 21 begins to draw an ingot, a detector 6 begins to measure the roll gap of idle rolls 5. This signal goes through a data abnormality discriminating part 11, by which normal data are stored in a storage part; at the same time, the signals from a storage part 13 set and stored beforehand with a roll gap standard and a threshold deviation rate storage part 24 are compared. When the value exceeds a deviation threshold, it is collated with the average data of a measured data storage part 19, and upon confirmation of this with a statistical processor 14 for abnormal data, the rate of roll deviations is extracted by the signals from the parts 13, 24. An arithmetic device 15 determines casting speeds and cooling water flow by the modle equations having been set and stored with the signals from a crack sensitivity discriminating part 17, and a threshold strain rate operating device 16, and the devices 18, 20 are controlled respectively.
