Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately prevent the production of ingot defects by measuring roll reactions by load cells in a straightening zone and before and behind the same, using the same as input data, calculating strains, and straining rates as outputs, and deciding and controlling cracking and the like.
CONSTITUTION: The roll reactions in the straightening zone of a continuous casting machine and before and behind the same are measured with load cells 21W25, 21'W 25', the slab surface temps. right under a mold 3 and on the inlet and outlet side of the straightening zone with thermometers 11W13 and roll gaps with a roll gap measuring device 4. The acceptance and rejection of pouring conditions are decided and controlled by the pouring condition acceptance or rejection decision programs adding strain references and straining rate references to said data as basis.
