Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quality and shape of an ingot and make the adjustment and setting of or gap safe and accurate by adjusting and setting the set value of a roll gap in compliance with the fluctuations in a casting condition during during continuous casting of the ingot. CONSTITUTION:Estimation model operation 2 is made by a computer with respect to, for example, the thickness of solidification, the stress distribution in a solidified area, the temp. distribution of an unsolidified area, the rate of contraction by solidification, etc. from the signals of various detecting ends 1 such as ingot surface thermometer, drawing speedometer, roll gap meter, reaction meter, etc. Thence, the signals from the various detecting ends 1 and the various results by the above- mentioned model operation 2 are made to correspond and operated 3 with a computer using these data to obtain a synthetic judgement and from the results thereof, the correction of the estimation model is made on one hand, and a changed set value is set at the operating end 4 including hydraulic pressure control unit on the other, while tendency control is being carried out. Here, it is desireable to add the estimated value of the thermal expansion of rolls in calculating the roll gap.
