Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the molten steel level in a mold always stably by selectively operating optimum molten steel flow amount-nozzle stroke characteristics and nozzle stroke zero point by using the values having beforehand been stored and set according to operating conditions. CONSTITUTION:Operating conditions are inputted to an operator 19 and the molten steel flow rate-nozzle stroke characteristics and nozzle erosion characteristics having beforehand been stored are selected. Thence, the stroke range and stroke zero point of a stopper nozzle 3 are set by setters 6, 7, and are stored in an operator 18. These values are inputted to the stopper-nozzle pouring flow rate controller 10 and hydraulic control circuit 12 of a control system, and are used as feedback signals. The erosion rate of the nozzle 3 is monitored from the nozzle erosion stroke characteristics and the nozzle stroke zero point is moved, whereby the optimum molten steel flow rate-nozzle stroke characteristics are maintained. By this method, the control system is stablized and the molten steel level in the mold 4 is maintained in a fixed state highly accurately.
